This great little spot at the corner of Second and Beale looks like it might have had a former life as a garage. Mismatched chairs, formica tables, corregated tin ceiling, concrete floors, blues music in the background. Signs on the wall clue you to the personality of the place. Slogans like “Put some south in your mouth”, “Steak so good it’ll make a train take a dirt road” and “There’s a thrill on the hill” hang prominently over the grill. We arrived just before lunch, and there was no wait for a table, although it filled quickly while we were seated. We ordered the wet style ribs. They were “fall off the bone” tender, with a slightly sweet maple sauce. No pulled pork on the menu. But, the ribs were worth the trip. As far as sides, the baked beans were a tad sweet. Good slaw. No decaf coffee.
