Walking into Neely’s on Jefferson was like walking into a 1970’s nightclub. Dark wood paneling, carpeted floor. R & B music in the background. Dark but nice retro atmosphere. There are several Neely’s restaurants, and these are not to be confused with Neely’s Interstate BBQ ( a family relation but different operation altogether.) They featured a really nice variety of menu items, so we tried a variety: ½ slab wet style, ½ slab dry style, ½ lb pulled pork, chicken wings, slaw, and baked beans. The dry ribs were tender, but didn’t fall off the bone. Wet ribs were tender, but didn’t fall off the bone. The pulled pork was served in long strands with spice sprinkled on top. I assumed the pork would be dry tasting from the look of the strands, but I was wrong. The pulled pork was moist and tender. My favorite menu items were the side items. The cole slaw was mustard based with a peppery kick. It was addictive. The baked beans were also great. Not too sweet, with a pork chunks and a slight spice kick.
